Our bodies are beautiful and complex machines, perfectly designed to function for ultimate wellness. As we age, our bodies change. Bones weaken, metabolism slows, and organs get sluggish. Fortunately, there is plenty we can do now to prolong weight wellness and optimal health, well into our golden years. We all want to age with dignity and in good health. There are many easy ways to support healthy aging and weight wellness.
Fats aren’t all bad. In fact, they're a key to weight wellness.
Healthy Aging and Weight WellnessBoosting healthy fat intake has a positive impact on healthy aging and weight wellness. Omega-3 fatty acids are one of the healthiest fats we can consume and are common in fish. If you aren’t a fan of fish, supplement as needed. Getting plenty of antioxidants and nutrients is also going to support healthy aging and weight wellness. Limiting your consumption of alcohol and junk foods now might be difficult some days, but the later rewards are worth the willpower it takes.
If you’re not a fan of healthy fats like avocado or antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, try making smoothies or juicing to supplement your diet.
We might live in Arizona but many of us are low on Vitamin D which is essential for bone health.
Healthy aging is about more than keeping wrinkles at bay; it starts on the inside with our bones. Bone loss is caused by a combination of limited movement and lack of proper nutrients. For our parents’ or grandparents’ generation, the soil contained much-needed minerals but as we’ve farmed more, the soil has lost its benefits. That means we’d need to eat two or three times what our ancestors ate to have the same health impact!
Fortunately, there are solutions like our Team Shady Isagenix programs that coach you how to eat balanced nutrition to prevent bone loss, support the immune system, and foster good health outcomes. Specifically, to fight bone loss, we need a diet rich in calcium and Vitamin D. While we may live in Arizona or be out in the summer sunshine wherever you live, it’s likely not enough.
In addition to proper nutrition, there are bone building exercises like walking, strength training, and even yoga, to help your body as it ages.
Healthy aging and weight wellness prevent weight gain and a host of other weight-related conditions.
A common change in our bodies as we age is a slowing metabolism which leads to unwanted weight gain. Evidence suggests that the more consistently we workout throughout our entire life, the stronger our metabolism will grow. That means maintaining a healthy weight as we age and preventing conditions such as diabetes.
Even if you hear the brakes of your metabolism slowing, we encourage you to add metabolism boosting foods like water, green tea, hot peppers, and protein-rich foods like lean meats. Our nutrition program offers guidance on balanced eating for weight wellness and we’d love to tell you more!
Healthy aging doesn’t have to mean slowing your lifestyle, maybe only adjusting it so you can continue doing the activities that you love! Cheers to your good health.
